Dearest friends, family, animal lovers, bike riders, and cake eaters—-Maybe some of you know that I love playing music almost as much as I love making art—-piano, violin, percussion, guitar…kazoo… This project is about violin— I haven’t been able to play for a few weeks because my bow needs to be restrung, and it’s driving me crazy! But restringing is a little expensive, especially for a starving artist like me. If you want to help me out a bit, that would make me the happiest! Here’s the deal—-in exchange for $10, I will paint an original 5x7 watercolor for you and ship it through the good ol’ USPS. You just give me an idea of what to paint—-an animal, food, adjective, dream, whatever—-and I’ll do what I do best. And both of us win! I get to play with the folk group at my church again, and you get a lovely to hang on your wall. The best, right?? So excited! Let’s get this started, click on the photo!

Big creatures in the middle of wildflowers are probably my favorite to paint. It’s so charming that something so large and sturdy is among something so sweet and fragile. Happy Monday, friends!

Oh, and this is what I posted to The Pen Pals this week. The theme was Treehouse, which is so appropriate for right now, since this spring weather is making me dream of summer time fun days.

Remember The Secret Garden, the version with Maggie Smith? It was so good. Dickon was a total babe. I wonder what happened to him? And the musical score was UNBELIEVABLE. Sometimes I pull that up on Grooveshark and listen to the opening song on repeat. But anyways—- the Uncle with his terrifying Mastiffs? Remember?? In his creepy study? Well, this isn’t one of them. He’s actually really friendly.

Shetland ponies! I can’t get enough of them! So… I’m just gonna leave now for Scotland and then on to the Shetland Isles? I just Google mapped it and it’s only like 500 miles from Glasgow. LATEEEEEEER

I’ve been really into drawing Victorian ladies with chameleons lately. I got these great reference books from the library. Anyways, doesn’t this girl look so much like Carol/Cheryl from Archer? That’s all I can think about when I look at it.

Just posted this on The Pen Pals—-the theme was If I was a hoarder, and ain’t it the truth. I love teacups and coffee cups and tea pots. And I have a pretty good collection going so far. So obviously we need to have a tea party or something like right now.

Self portrait time! I’m designing new business cards for this summer, and I figured people would REALLY remember me if I actually put my face on them. Also we can make really awesome slightly awkward small talk because they’ve got my interests too—-knitting, reading, tea. Done. Friends forever.  Ohmygod I’m an old lady.
